Tiger is here!

I finally purchased Tiger last night. And of course the first thing I did was back up my G5 and install it!

Here are my impressions. I like it. It makes my G5 happy, it runs nice and fast. Also it has native drivers for my printer which is a good thing because the drivers that HP makes for my printer make my computer shit itself (darn you HP!!!!).

Here is what I don't like. I did a clean install. And when you install a fresh copy of Tiger you do not get Stuffit Expander OR iPhoto. WTF! As it happens my internet died at that exact second so I could not go and download Stuffit Expander so I could not install any of my software that I had compressed! And what is up with no iPhoto? They have always included that! Grrrr, that is the thing I am most pissed about. They get me hooked on this software now I have to go buy it. Bastards.

But I still love Apple and I really love my Mac.

Yeah, Matt had that problem too with iPhoto. It wouldn't let him just upgrade the OS, he had to do a clean install... and he was definitely disappointed not to have iPhoto. He's going to try to just copy it over from my laptop, although he is trying to convince me that we need to buy iLife. Not sure it is worth $100 just for iPhoto, since we don't use any of the other apps.

I'm sure I could install the old iPhoto (if I could fine my panther disks). I really don't want to purchase iLife, all I want is iPhoto.

Why Apple WHY!?

I'm not sure you could install it from the Panther disks - Matt was looking at that and he didn't think it would be possible. Ugh!

And yes, I agree - what's up with the whole bundling thing??

Ah, but I love my mac, and I would go back for anything.
