Day 6 - Yee haw! Today is flat right?
Did I mention that Santa Barbara is a super awesome city with really yummy views of the ocean. I had a talk with some other riders at one of the rest stops. We discuss how this day is like the day before the last day of school. It’s almost worse then the last day. Cause you want it over, you can taste the end, but nope it’s not there yet!

Day 5 - Darling you look fabulous in a red dress!
Day 5 is red dress day. This means everyone wears a red dress (or you are supposed to anyway). I totally forgot about this day, but I did manage to have a red jersey on me so I wore that sucker.
Day 5 is also a short day, only 42 miles. I finish the day at like noon. OMG I needed that. I just lay under a tree in the shade and take a nap, it feels SOOO good. Today is also the talent show and all the stuff.

Day 4 - I have heard them referred to as the twin bitches
OK so its day 4. I can’t feel pain anymore, my body is kind of numb to it, but come on people! I have to do the twin bitches AND a century ride all in one day?
I am determined to make this century ride. The first century was taken away from me because of that evil bee, but this one is mine! All I have to do is make it over the twin bitches then its all down hill right?
Well almost, after the evil twins there is a nice long downhill and then the rest of the ride really is relatively flat.
I make it to the top of the twin bitches. You may not know this but the top of these mountain also marks the half way point to LA! There are signs and lines at these sings were people are taking pictures. Clearly I have one!
After a nice long downhill I finish off my century ride. It’s a rather crazy ride. There are some parts that are ultra bumpy and on top of that these bumpy parts are on highway 1 where cars are whizzing by you at 70 miles an hour. It was NOT fun.
It felt SOOO good to make it into camp that night. And I had done my century ride!

Day 3 - There is a reason they call this hill the QUADBUSTER
The one good thing (if you want to tall it that) is that the quadbuster is at the beginning of the day and the rest of the day is relatively flat.
The quadbuster was really not “that bad”. I did have to stop halfway up and take a little breather but I did make it. It was amazing, those riders that get there first are all cheering on the others as they make it. Some of the stronger riders even go back down and back up and encourage riders as they bike up. Once at the top I am dead tired, but I get off my bike to not only rest but also to cheer on other riders as they finish.
Day 3 was a good day. I am at that level of tired now were I don’t really feel pain anymore.

Day 2 - OMG today is a century ride
My alarm when off at 5am. That is an ungodly hour. Who decided to do this ride anyway? Today is also the first century ride. The longest consecutive ride I have done so far is only 60 miles. Which means this ride is 40 miles more then that. And its after already riding 80 miles the day before!
I will go ahead and say right now that I did not make all the 100 miles. But I also want to make it VERY clear it was not because I was tired or could not make it. I got slammed with an unfortunate act of nature. I was riding along minding my own business when WHAM a bee flies into my face and gets under my glasses and stings me on the eye. ON THE EYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not allergic to bees and all but still, it sucks mucho and I kinda want to go to the medical tent and get it looked at. SO I get sagged to the next rest stop where they give me an icepack to put on my fact to stop the swelling from spreading and give me some Claritin to stop the reaction of the sting. So thanks to this incident I got sagged 12 miles. SO I did not do a century. I am kinda upset but its not like I have never done a century ride before so I will live.
Again, we get into camp and I setup everything take a shower, and basically just crash cause I am tired.
Now remember This day was a relatively flat day, no real hills.

Day 1 - What the HELL did I get myself into
At this point all the emotion stress makes me snap and I call Roque and I am totally crying while on the phone with him, I already miss him!
I go into the huge room where opening ceremonies takes place. We all get together and do the opening ceremonies thing then they let us go to our bikes. Then we are off!
Day 1 was kind of scary because I don’t even know if I can make it on this ride, I did not do anywhere near enough training. Also since I used to live in these parts I am familiar with a lot of the routes and know how many hills there are.
I make it to Santa Cruz just fine though. I am not dead, I am in pain but not dead.
Taking a shower and getting into normal cloths feels SOOO good. Since my buddy Mikey (and my tent mate) is doing motorcycle crew he wont be in until the route closes so its my duty to setup the tent and stuff.
We eat dinner and basically crash cause we are tired!

Day 0 - OMG I am about to start
Bright and early Saturday morning (June 4th) Roque and I head on out to San Francisco. For those that don’t know day zero is the day you go and check in, drop off your bike and perform all necessary administrative tasks before you are allowed to ride. This way on Day 1 all you do is show up and ride!
I check in, and do all my junk and poof I am ready to go! I am done super early in the day. Roque and I head out to the Castro but don’t stay there that long. I want to just rest and chill a bit since I have an insane ride ahead of me.
I try and go to bed nice and early but I am a ball of nervous energy.

I'm back!
I am back!
If anyone ever asks you if it is possible to ride your bike from SF to LA you tell them "HELL YES!"
Every single muscle in my body hurts. But it's all good! I made it all the way and it was darn fun too!
I along with 1600 other riders made the trek this year. We faces insane cross winds, the quad buster, the twin bitches, but we made it!
Stay tuned for a more entries section off by day of the ride. I hope to have it up semi soon before I forget what happened :)

The Time is coming!
Tonight I need to go home and start packing. I need to find out what I don't have yet so I can buy some. I know I don't have enough cycling socks, but I "should" be good on everything else.
Saturday morning (way to early) I drive to SF (with my hubby) to go and get all my day zero stuff done with and out of the way. Then Sunday at a SUPER ungodly hour in the morning I need to be at the opening ceremonies location for equipment drop off and opening ceremonies and a nice 6:30ish start time!
If anyone is in the LA area come to closing ceremonies and say hi (specially if you are this hottie)!!!!

Happy Bike
My bike is all happy again. I picked it from the bike shop yesterday after work and it was all happy. I also had the mechanic fix my rims because my rim tape was messed up and causing my tubes to keep popping, and that is no good!
I will go for my first ride on my fixed up bike tomorrow. I can't wait! As for the AIDS Life Cycle, it's coming up fast! I don't think I am in good enough shape but it's only pain so it's all good!

A little bike TLC
The AIDS Life Cycle is 2 weeks away now. I am kind of scared. I am going to get my ass kicked. I need to make sure to bring mass quantities of ibuprofen on this ride. I just hope it does not rain. Riding in the rain is a drag. But I am supper excited about the ride. I know it's going to be a blast.
If anyone is in LA June 11th, come to closing ceremonies and say hi!!!!!!

I was abandoned by my mama!
So my riding partner (Big Mama J) has totally abandoned me! We have been planning doing the Aids Life Cycle Ride for a year now. And yesterday he totally drops the bomb on me that he can't make it.
Needless to say I am livid. Well ok I was livid yesterday, for like a couple minutes (I just can't stay angry long it's not in me). But it does totally suck, cause we were gonna ride together! And now he abandoned me. Why Big Mama J why!?!?!?!?!
Oh well, I guess now since I have no fellow cyclist friends doing the ride I will have to be more social and meet people and stuff.
Oh I do have a friend that did not abandon me, but he is doing the motorcycle crew (who we all love) but he is not cycling with me.

AIDS LIfe Cycle 4
Yee Haw!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did it, I hit the minimum amount necessary to do the ride. That of course does not mean you should not donate. It is a darn worthy cause and my goal is to raise $5000 and I have not hit that yet! :)

I finally did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rode my bike into work today!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this probably does not seem like much of an accomplishment to most of you, but you all probably don't realize I live 30 miles form work so it takes effort to ride my bike to work.
I was NOT mentally prepared for how cold it was going to be. I did not know where my full gloves were so I was wearing my normal cycling gloves which are cutoff at the knuckle. My fingers and my ears and my nose were COLD! It was very hard to get out of the shower this morning once I finally got here, it was so warm!
But it was all good, I feel good. I need to get some miles in before the Life Cycle ride because I don't want to die to hard.

I did it, finally!
It ended up only taking me 30 minutes to ride from the last station to work, it was about 8 miles. The tricky part here was finding roads that you can ride your bike on a night die. But there is a guy here at work that does it everyday and he told me the route to take.
After that I rode my bike all the way home (which is what I plan on doing when I ride to work). This is all part of trying to get in to as best shape possible for the AIDS Life Cycle in the limited time I have left.
Training has been SO hard for this ride. I just don't have time. I work full time and go to Grad school at night. I just can't train! So since I always do my homework on weekends because I can't stand doing anything after I work, I figure riding my bike to work would be a good way to get some saddle time without intruding on weekend homework time.
So tomorrow is the first day I ride my bike to work. I will let you know how it goes!

Hello Daddy!
I went on my first group training ride yesterday. I decided to go with the Sacramento Wheelmen because I was sick of riding alone, it's no fun.
I did accidentally ride farther then I planned. I was only going to do the medium 37 mile route because I am not in very good shape at the moment, but I accidentally ended up on the 53 mile route because I was just following people, not using the map. But it was a good ride, I think I help up rather well.
Oh, and I Just have to say that the guy that organized the ride was a TOTAL DILF. I mean buzzed head, goatee, furry arms with the fur going all the way up to his sleeve, and nice body. Ya I kinda wanted to violate him.
Anyway....I think I am going to continue to ride with them on the weekends, it will be a fun way to get into shape.

AIDS Life Cycle Business Cards
I created AIDS LifeCycle Business Cards. I figure they will be a good marketing tool. I can just hand them to people that I meet, and they are not as annoying as a full blown flyer and stuff.
Fund raising is in full swing now. So come on people, I know your out there, it's a darn good cause so donate!

All jazzed up
My buddy Mikey and I went to the AIDS LifeCycle kickoff party this weekend in San Francisco. It was an awesome event. It got me totally motivated again for the ride. Not that i wasn't motivated mind you, but seeing all the images of the ride really reminded me of the ride I did and brought back all those good memories, so now I am ready.
Unfortunately I did not win any of the raffles, they were giving away road bikes in the raffles. Mind you I totally don't want a new bike because I love my bike, it's my baby. I did the last AIDS Ride on it and I can never give it up, it has too much sentimental value now. But I would take a new bike so I could strip it and upgrade all the components on my bike!
The rain actually stopped for a few seconds and I went for a bike ride on Sunday. Unfortunately it seems my front tire is not holding air pressure so I cut the ride a lot shorter then I wanted because I did not want to deal with flat tires and crap in the cold an possibly the rain.

Training has begun!
I know I probably should have started hard core training a while ago, but I was going to the gym and all, but I was not fully into cycling training (i.e. being on my bike a lot).
Well on monday I bought a trainer so I can train on my bike indoors. For the past two days I have been riding on the trainer. It will be good to get some time on the saddle on weekdays.
Also I have started keeping track of my riding. There is a link on the left "Training Progress" that links to my training stats.
Ride on!
